Their digressive valving offers excellent damping performance at low and high speeds.
These shock absorbers are made of 2.5″ diameter aluminum with a wall thickness of 3/16″, which provides ample coolant volume and durability off-road and on.
The external reservoir is connected to the shock absorber via a heavy-duty hose with a working pressure of 3,000 PSI – made of stainless steel, with a synthetic inner layer and optimized flow channels to ensure free flow of oil.
The innovative parabolic valve stack eliminates problems common to conventional methods, providing compact and precise damping control (patent application #63/743,954).The design solutions take advantage of the maximum length of the piston rod and provide more stroke than any other monotube shock absorber of the same size – even the inner portions of the ends have been machined to allow for additional movement.
Military-standard piston anodization (Type III HARD anodized) provides wear resistance to heavy fluid flow, guaranteeing a long life for the shock absorber.
The 7/8-inch pistons have been hardened to a hardness of over 60 HRC and coated with hard chrome for superior durability and resistance to rock shrapnel impact – while offering a perfectly smooth surface for the seals and scraper rings.
A triple sealing system prevents oil leaks and debris ingress. A removable protective cap (Bump Cap) protects seals from damage at full bump and allows service access.
A large, milled knob with laser-engraved markings makes it easy to change compression settings – 8 levels of adjustment, each increasing damping force by 15% to perfectly match characteristics to your riding style. Fine-tune your damping for off-road and everyday riding.
The shock mounts with offset brackets that provide more travel while maintaining factory compatibility.
RockSport Black Shocks come with a 1/8-inch thick reservoir bracket, laser-cut and plated in gold-plated zinc.
Also included is a lower shock mount, also plated in zinc – it’s designed to offset the mounting location away from the Jeep frame, providing additional ground clearance and protecting the shock. Made from 3/16-inch thick hot-rolled steel, it is laser-cut and CNC-bent for a perfect fit.
