Made from 2.5″ diameter aluminum with a wall thickness of 3/16″, the shocks have a large internal volume for effective cooling and to withstand heavy use – both on asphalt and off-road.
The external reservoir is connected to the shock absorber via a stainless steel braided hydraulic line with a strength of up to 3,000 psi, with a synthetic liner and optimized oil flow to ensure free flow of the damping fluid.
The unique valve design with a parabolic form of shims (patent application no. 63/743,954) offers a compact and simplified solution, eliminating the problems of classic systems and enabling precise damping performance.
The designed set makes maximum use of the length of the piston rod, offering more travel than any other monotube shock absorber of similar dimensions – even the inside of the lugs has been rolled to increase the range of motion.
The Type III (Mil-Spec) hard anodizing process used on the shock absorber piston protects it from wear due to rapid fluid flow, ensuring a long and reliable life.
The 7/8″ diameter piston rods are hard chrome plated and induction hardened to a hardness of more than 60 on the Rockwell (C) scale, giving them a durability that exceeds most competitive solutions. They provide excellent protection against stone impacts and smooth operation of seals and wipers.
A triple set of seals effectively retain oil and prevent the entry of debris. A removable cover (Bump Cap) protects the seal system from damage at full bump and allows service access to the shock absorber.
Note: RockSport Black shocks are large 2.5-inch diameter long-stroke shocks. They are directly compatible with Jeeps equipped with wide bridges, such as Rubicon or Max Tow.
Installation on vehicles with standard-width bridges may require modifications such as additional bumpers, rims with proper offset, providing clearance at the brake calipers, etc.
