The digressive type valving provides the best performance at both low and high speeds. The shock absorbers are made of 2.5″ diameter aluminum with 3/16″ thick walls, with a large internal oil reservoir space for effective cooling and resistance to extreme off-road and on-road conditions. The outer reservoir is connected to the shock absorber by a stainless steel braided hose that can withstand operating pressures of up to 3,000 psi, with an internal synthetic coating and optimized flow holes to ensure free oil flow. The unique valve stack with parabolic design (patent pending #63/743,954) is a compact and simplified design that eliminates the typical problems of classic systems, allowing fine-tuning of operating characteristics. The complete design maximizes the length of the piston rod and provides more stroke than any other monotube shock absorber of similar size – even the inner end components are machined to increase the range of motion. Functional Type III (Mil-Spec) anodization of the piston protects it from wear under heavy oil flow, guaranteeing long life. The 7/8″ diameter pistons, which are hard-chrome plated and induction hardened to Rockwell C 60+ hardness, are more durable than most competitors and resistant to stone impact, while providing a smooth surface for seals and wipers. A triple gasket package keeps oil inside and debris out. A removable cover protects the seal assembly from damage at full compression and allows access for servicing the shock absorber. The shock absorber is mounted using integrated offset brackets that allow long travel while fitting like a factory suspension. Also included is a 1/8″ thick reservoir mount, laser-cut and gold zinc plated. The shock also features a gold zinc-plated lower mounting bracket, which is designed to move the mounting point away from the Jeep frame, increasing ground clearance and protecting the shock. The mount is made from 3/16″ thick hot-rolled steel, laser-cut and CNC-bent for a perfect fit. Note: RockSport Black shocks are long-stroke shocks with a large 2.5″ diameter. They are a direct replacement using dedicated mounts for the Jeep Wrangler JL or Gladiator JT. All 2.5″ diameter shocks require model fitment for “proper” installation – you may need additional bumpers, proper wheel spacers, clearance for brake calipers, etc. If you have any doubts about installation – contact us.
