The RockSport Black Reservoir Shock Absorbers are specially designed, carefully engineered and precisely manufactured at MetalCloak’s headquarters. The digressive valves provide excellent performance at both low and high suspension speeds – ideal for off-road riding and everyday use.
The shock bodies are made of 2.5″ diameter aluminum with a wall thickness of 3/16″, providing high fluid capacity for resistance to overheating and durability in all conditions – on- and off-road.
The reservoir is connected to the shock absorber via a 3,000 psi working strength stainless steel braided reservoir hose with synthetic lining and optimized oil flow.
A novel valve arrangement with a parabolic form of shims (Patent Application No. 63/743,954) allows simplification of the design and elimination of typical problems associated with classic valve arrangements, making it possible to achieve accurate damping performance.
The entire design allows maximum utilization of the piston rod length and offers greater stroke than other monotube shock absorbers of similar size – even the tip elements have been additionally machined to achieve a greater range of motion.
The shock absorber pistons are coated with Type III hard anode (Mil-Spec), which prevents wear and tear under rapid fluid flow – ensuring long life.
The 7/8″ piston rods are coated with hard chrome, additionally hardened to a hardness of over 60 Rockwell (C), giving better durability than most competing products. They provide a smooth surface for gaskets and wipers, resisting the impact of rock debris.
A triple sealing system keeps oil inside and blocks access by contaminants. A removable cover protects the seals from damage when fully impacted and allows for easy maintenance.
A large, convenient milled aluminum knob with laser-applied markings allows you to easily change compression settings. You can choose from 8 steps of damping – each step increases the damping force by 15%, allowing you to perfectly match the shock’s operation to your preferences and riding conditions.
The shock mounts with built-in offset brackets that allow more suspension travel while maintaining the factory fit.
RockSport Black shocks come with a reservoir mount made of 1/8″ thick, laser-cut sheet metal with a gold zinc finish.
Also included is a gold zinc-coated lower shock mount designed to move the mounting point further away from the Jeep frame – increasing ground clearance and protecting the shock. This mount is made from 3/16″ thick hot-rolled steel, laser-cut and CNC-bent for a perfect fit.

Note: RockSport Black shocks are 2.5″ in diameter and are large and designed for long travel. They are dedicated to JL Wrangler and JT Gladiator models with corresponding mounting brackets.
