The “T” design is not susceptible to changes in geometry during suspension operation, unlike the weaker “Y” layout, which causes a change in toe-in with every suspension movement.
Exclusive to MetalCloak – the steering rod is equipped with double forged and hardened Dog-Leg tips with 1 ton strength. This design provides adequate strength and ground clearance, allowing the use of both factory and aftermarket wheels – resulting in the best possible turning radius. Dog-Leg tips eliminate the “flop” effect, which increases steering precision. Grease guards prevent dirt from entering and keep grease in place. The rod can be adjusted after installation, allowing fine-tuning of settings.
The crossmember rod, made of 1.375-inch-diameter tubing, has specially designed bends that provide adequate clearance for suspension operation, even in conjunction with custom bridges or differential covers. Gold plating protects against corrosion. The rod ends are forged, hardened and fitted with OE taper pins and locknuts to ensure a precise fit and strength in critical areas. They are also designed to eliminate play and prevent cross-rod “flop”. Serviceable with grease fittings.
The entire kit can be adjusted after installation, making it easy to fine-tune the alignment of the axle.
The performance of the “T” style steering system is a marked improvement in ride comfort and vehicle control.
