Thanks to their digressive valving, they provide the best damping characteristics at both low and high suspension speeds.
The shock absorbers are made of 2.5″ diameter, 3/16″ wall-thick aluminum, with a large internal fluid space to ensure effective cooling and withstand heavy use – both on- and off-road.
The external reservoir is connected to the shock absorber via a stainless steel braided hydraulic hose with an operating pressure of up to 3,000 psi, with a synthetic liner and optimized flow channels to ensure uninterrupted oil flow.
A unique valve stack with a parabolic washer form (patent application no. 63/743,954) provides a compact and simplified valve design, eliminating problems typical of classic systems while enabling precise performance.
The engineered design maximizes the length of the piston rod and provides more stroke than any similar monotube shock absorber – even the interiors of the end caps have been machined to increase the range of motion.
The HARD Type III transparent anodizing process (conforming to military specifications) used on the shock absorber piston protects against wear caused by rapid fluid flow and ensures long service life.
The 7/8-inch diameter pistons, which are hard chrome plated and induction hardened to Rockwell C 60+ hardness, outperform most competing solutions in terms of durability and withstand stone impacts many times over, offering excellent protection and a smooth surface for gasket and wiper operation.
A triple set of seals keeps oil inside and protects against contaminants. A removable end cap (Bump Cap) protects the seals from damage at full bump and provides access for servicing the shock.
Note: RockSport Black shocks are long-stroke shocks with a large body and 2.5-inch diameter. They are a direct fit for Jeeps with a wide bridge, such as Rubicon and Max Tow.
When installed on vehicles with a standard width bridge, modifications such as additional bumpers, rims with proper offset, proper clearance at the brake calipers, etc. may be necessary.
